Ovid Carriage Days

March 24, 1869 would see the Village of Ovid come to life. With our settlers from Seneca Falls County New York. During those days, you could find a flour mill, lumber mill foundry sawmill, as well as other retail businesses and hotels. The most well-known business was the carriage manufacturing company owned by Schafield and Danforth.

Our annual festival celebrates our industrious heritage every September. Most notably the manufacturing of the carriage. Carriage Days began to be observed in 1994. What was once a small event, is now a 3-day festival that runs through the Main Street of Ovid, our newly appointed City.

Come on out to see what our friendly town has to offer. You will be impressed with the local businesses, friendly people, and sites of Ovid.

We look forward to meeting!
